back when "my little pony: friendship is magic" was popping off, i was preparing an adventure for a D&D group that needed a librarian wizard NPC. a book nerd who was a bit of know-it-all and likes to take magical action based on their book-learnin'. i wasn't gonna just straight up use Twilight Sparkle, because she is a magic horse, and i wanted this NPC to be a person. so i design this guy, and i made him have twilight sparkle's hairstyle just as a cheeky nod to her.

NOWADAYS he's like, my favorite character to use LOL. i've used him as a player character and NPC in countless games, and he's always been my go-to "nerd guy" in most anything i write. he's curious, he's got a strong sense of justice, and he's a trivia fiend. definitely voted most likely to volunteer for wikipedia.

in fantasy settings he's often a wizard of some sort, scribing spellbooks and researching magic. in more modern ones, he's often a private investigator. in all of them though, he usually sets up shop in a library of sorts, either pulling double duty as a librarian, or just hiding away in one of it's rooms. he's usually fits the Mission Control trope when he's an NPC, but he isn't afraid of getting out in the field and facing baddies himself.
